About Me

I was offered my first teaching position in 1996 with the High Prairie School Division and remained in High Prairie for 9 years where I taught primarily Kindergarten to Grade 2.  I was employed for one year with the Pembina School Division where I taught an Early Education Program at Westlock Elementary School.  I moved to the Parkland School Division in 2006 and began my journey in Early Education at Ecole Broxton Park School.  In 2007, I joined the Parkland Village Staff and have enjoyed various teaching assignments from SEEDS to Grade 4.  While at Parkland Village School, I have had the opportunity to take on the role of Acting Administration since 2010.  Throughout my time at Parkland Village School I have worked on making learning more inclusive, innovative, and hands-on. The Little Green Thumb Program is where children in grade one first developed the skills to use instagram and blogging to communicate to their parents and interested others with the progress of their garden.  Our journey from seed to harvest was published in the book “Classroom in the Cloud Innovation Ideas for Higher Level Learning” by Jared Covili and Nicholas Provenzano.  My educational philosophy is that innovative hands on learning is more effective when teaching and learning with little ones.  Benjamin Franklin said, “Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I may remember, Involve me and I Learn”

When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family.  You can usually find me at the hockey rink or baseball field cheering on my nephew.  My two nieces and I are often found shopping and baking together.
